Check Up

What is a Check Up?
Many health problems and diseases progress insidiously without any symptoms. The symptoms of some conditions are thought to be caused by the stress of daily life or fatigue.

Metabolic diseases, liver disease, kidney dysfunction, cardiovascular disease and many other conditions can progress silently over time to become major health problems. A check-up, one of the benefits of modern medicine, enables people to take precautions before a health problem arises or to detect existing conditions at the earliest possible stage.

This chain of procedures, which includes examinations by specialist physicians as well as laboratory tests and radiological imaging, is shaped according to the age, gender, genetic heritage and risk factors of the person. In other words, young people are evaluated within the scope of preventive medicine, while older people undergo comprehensive screenings to detect many different diseases at an early stage. In addition to all these, depending on the current health status of the person, parameters such as obesity, diabetes, lipid metabolism, cardiovascular diseases can be evaluated and possible ailments can be prevented before they occur.

Basic health check-ups can be performed for people of all ages, whether or not they have any complaints. Thus, the person can protect his/her health as well as take precautions in the early period or the existing disease of the person can be treated in the early period.

Why should a check-up be done?
Check up, which is performed as a health screening for people who do not have any health problems, taking into account age, genetic heritage, environmental and risk factors, should be done at regular intervals in order to prevent possible diseases or to diagnose and treat existing diseases at an early stage.

Who Should Have a Check Up?
Check up is not only an application consisting of analyzes and tests. The person meets face to face with the specialist physicians determined for him/her according to his/her age, gender and risk factors and undergoes an examination. Additional laboratory tests and radiological imaging may be performed when deemed necessary by the physician. Thus, the patient's current health status is comprehensively evaluated. In the light of the results obtained, the physician informs the patient in detail about what to pay attention to. Existing risks are reviewed during the next check-up.

Check up is a health screening that adults should have at least once a year, even if they do not have any complaints. It may be recommended by the physician to have more frequent check-up periods, which may vary according to the existing risks of the person. This period is extremely important in terms of monitoring changes in the person's health and risk factors.

Women who have a chronic disease such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension in their family, those who are in the risk group in terms of cancer types such as gynecological cancers, breast cancer, prostate cancer, those who are in the risk group in terms of other chronic and hereditary diseases, those who work at a busy pace and under intense stress, women who want to have a healthier menopause period should have regular basic health checks.

What should be considered before a check-up?
The person who wants to have a check-up should first make an appointment with the nearest health institution. The physician responsible for the basic health check-up takes a comprehensive anamnesis of the patient. Thus, the type and scope of the check-up is determined. Before the day of the check-up, it may be recommended to discontinue the medications the person is taking.

After the appointment date is set, the patient is asked to come to the hospital on an empty stomach on the day of the check-up. Fasting for 8 to 10 hours is important for the laboratory tests to give accurate results.

There is no harm in consuming water. The frequently asked question "Can I drink water before a check-up?" can be answered in this way. It is extremely important to come to the hospital on an empty stomach in order not to waste time during the check-up procedure. Smoking, drinks and foods containing caffeine should not be consumed. Products such as gum or candy should not be used.

Before the appointment day, the person should have a light dinner and not drink alcohol. If there is an abdominal ultrasound within the scope of a personalized check-up application, the person is expected to come to the hospital with urine retention.

When the person arrives at the health institution, the person's blood and urine are first taken and then directed to the relevant physician. In line with the demands of the department physicians, many tests can be performed comprehensively when necessary. If the person's bladder is not full, he/she is encouraged to drink plenty of water.

If the person's check up program includes an exertion ECG, bringing spare underwear, towels, sportswear and sneakers will ensure that the person is comfortable. Patients who have a mammography examination are recommended to take a shower. No creams, perfumes or antiperspirants should be used after showering. If available, it may be advisable to bring previous check-up results or documents related to other conditions. If the person is pregnant or suspected of pregnancy, the physician should be informed before the check-up.

What is Checked During a Check Up?
During the check-up, blood pressure, fever, heart and respiratory rate are measured to determine the general health status of the person. Blood and urine samples are then requested. Afterwards, many branch physicians such as cardiology, pulmonology, internal medicine, neurology, otorhinolaryngology, gynecology and urology are interviewed. The physician of each branch may ask for additional tests to be performed when necessary or evaluate the condition of the person by checking the tests requested by the previous physician on the screen.

Since check up is a personalized health screening program, the number of branches and physicians that the person needs to be seen may vary. This may also cause the types of tests requested from the person to differ.Check Up 2022 Prices I Nisantasi I Sisli I Istanbul
